Raheem Sterling Leaves Manchester City for Chelsea in a $66 million Deal

Even though it's not Cristiano Ronaldo, Chelsea has finally made its first signing since Todd Boehly took over. According to Fabrizio Romano, they bought Raheem Sterling from Manchester City for $66 million.

Romano also said that Sterling's contract with the Premier League team runs through 2027 and includes an option for an extra year.

John Cross of the Mirror said that Liverpool made a last-minute bid for the England international before he signed with Chelsea. Boehly's club beat out Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Barcelona to get his services.

After Jack Grealish joined the Etihad last summer, there was less need for Sterling's services. City can also count on new signing Erling Haaland and attackers Julian Alvarez, Phil Foden, and Riyad Mahrez.

Even now, Sterling is a good addition to Thomas Tuchel's team for the 2022–23 season and beyond. The 27-year-old scored 13 goals and had five assists in 30 Premier League games for Manchester City last season. He also scored three goals and had two assists in 12 Champions League games.

Sterling has been with City since 2015. In his seven years with the team, he scored 91 goals and had 43 assists in 225 Premier League games. Before that, he spent four years with Liverpool, from 2011-12 to 2014-15.

Sterling should be a step up from Romelu Lukaku, who was ultimately a disappointment when he came back to Stamford Bridge in 2021-22. After scoring eight goals in 26 games, the Blues ended up loaning Lukaku to Inter Milan for the 2022-23 season.

Sterling should also work well with the Chelsea attack, which includes Christian Pulisic, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, and Mason Mount.

Even though Chelsea has signed Sterling, the team could also try to sign Ronaldo from Manchester United this summer. The Portuguese superstar reportedly wants to leave the Red Devils, who were hesitant to move him at first, so that he can play in the Champions League next season.

But Sky Sports recently said that United is finally willing to listen to offers for Ronaldo.

Here is an expert's explanation, how does Raheem Sterling fit in at Chelsea.
